The NHL Playoffs are Amazing
Have you been watching the NHL playoffs this year? If not something is wrong with you. Each and every game has been unbelievable. If you’ve been sleeping at the wheel though you still have a chance to redeem yourself. In the next three days you’re going to see three game sevens.
How good have these playoffs been? Already the team that had the best regular season in hockey (Vancouver) has been ousted by an eight seed (Los Angeles). This Thursday the top team in the East (New York) is playing an elimination game of their own against another eight seed (Ottawa). David, meet Goliath.
I hear you hockey haters already complaining about hockey being a dull sport. Look, maybe there are some snoozers in the regular season but so far these playoff games have been pulse pounding. We’re talking about hits so hard people are being suspended. We’re talking about so many goals that records are being broken. In the Philadelphia/Pittsburgh series alone there were 56 goals in six games. WHAT?! That just kicked baseball scores in the nuts!
These games are all close too. The Washington/Boston series, which will conclude after tonight’s game seven, is the first post-season series in NHL history to have all of the first six games decided by one goal. Three of those games went into overtime, one of which went into double overtime.
In Chicago, every game against Phoenix went into overtime. Every single one. Imagine if that was an NBA series, it would be dubbed one of the best ever and it would be trending on twitter worldwide.
It’s time you gave the NHL the respect it deserves and tune in to some playoff hockey.
Also, and this is just a side note, GO CAPS!
